The classic tale El hombre de jengibre (The Gingerbread Man) makes for a perfect story-based winter unit for young Spanish learners! This unit contains enough activities for up to a month, with options for different levels and groups.
El hombre de jengibre introduces the story in comprehensible Spanish, while reviewing colors, body parts, farm animals, and high-frequency verbs like corre, quiere, and come.

- 2 videos with comprehensible stories (one review story, and The Gingerbread Man), also included as illustrated PDF presentations for the teacher to narrate.
- A mini-book retelling the story, with QR codes that link to audio (narrated by a native speaker)
- 34 pages of review activities (vocabulary cards, sequencing cards, color-by-number, games, and more)
- Teacher Guide with lesson outlines and ideas for differentiation
This lesson is meant to be taught in coordination with my Spanish PreK-Early Elementary curriculum, but should work with students who have learned some basics like colors, some body parts, and some animal names.
